Amended Future Land Use Plan dated Dec 13th,

on this web site in Living Color!):

Webmaster's Note: The above
link it to a good, clean 37 megabyte, 912 page copy that is mostly text
based (i.e. not scanned). This copy is from the Florida Dept. of
Community Affairs web site in the "Florida Papers" section. The
original copy came from Edgewater and was sent to DCA, and as far as we
know, copying a public computer file is still free in the U.S.A. (at
least we hope it is), so I am not sure why they (the city) put the "nasty" 5
section, 190 megabyte scanned copy with
lines,
skewed pages, and blury gray background sections for
us
lowly citizens to try to read and comprehend.
If I hadn't been taught
to give people the benefit of the doubt, I would have thought
that they intentionally placed a nasty copy up there because they
didn't WANT any of us
citizens to read it and get through it before 2 or 3 months passed (and
even then, with only partial comprehension). The poor quality copy is
impossible to search with keywords unless you have a $500 license for
the Adobe Acrobat Professional with OCR, and even then, the scanner noise makes many
words impossible to recognize as text by the software. |
We lost this battle.
Over the entire period we were involved in this, we got them to scale
back MANY sections to a bit more realistic numbers and to "preserve"
more land, but all in all, we will see 8000+ new residences spring up to
the West of us, while 1 in 7 homes sit empty here in the REAL City of
Edgewater.
